John is married to a wonderful wife, Jessica, and has three wonderful children… all under 7 and thus all keeping him and his wife very busy. They live on a small farm, spending large amounts of time chasing ducks and chickens into their proper homes. His life’s work is to help create a world that has more real food and real farmers and real freedom –   freedom from pollution, from government tyranny, from corporate manipulation and oppression, from GMOs, from medical coercion, and more.

In 2005, the Moody family, along with a 4-5 other families, started a very small food buying club… which doubled in size every 3-6 months for close to four years. Now numbering over a hundred members, with almost half a million dollars in member orders per year, the club has become a powerful force for positive economic change and local economic support. John has since helped start over a dozen more food clubs across his home state and the United States by providing training and resources for those wanting to start a club or improve their club.

John was thrust into the spotlight early in 2011 when the county and state health department’s of his home state served his club with a quarantine and cease and desist order. For the first time in the food freedom wars, the state was forced to cry “uncle” and rescind the orders in the face of overwhelming political and public pressure generated by the membership of the club and broader community in Kentucky. Consulting

John has done consulting work with numerous clubs and farmer groups over the years on a wide variety of subjects and topics, including grass roots activism, networking farms and the farm supporting community, tips and techniques for both farmers and clubs for food safety, profitability, problem solving, and much more. For clubs that need help reviewing a decision, such as a big move to a new location, money management or pricing issues, or a host of other questions/problems, a little outside overview can quickly clear matters up and save your club time and money.

Please contact him below for more information if you want some personal help with starting, improving, or making changes to your group, or if you want help with activism training to help protect or expand your family’s access to real food from real farms.

Speaking and Writing

John has spoken at numerous farm and food events over the years, including the Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF) conference in 2009, where he was awarded the activist award, the Chicago Premier of Farmageddon, and much more.

From an average American on the SAD (standard American diet), to a consumer seeking healing from food, to an avid real food supporter after food healed his many ailments, then on to starting and becoming a buying club administrator of a club that has grown from a dozen to hundreds of members and almost half a million dollars in turnover… and now to small scale GMO free farming and animal raising, he brings a unique “big-picture” perspective to the challenges, opportunities, and solutions facing small, sustainable farms and the families that desire to support them and improve their health.

He has authored numerous articles for publications like ACRES USA and Wise Traditions, the quarterly journal of the WAPF.
